An interactive projector to revolutionize presentations

Team LaternaMagica is the winner of the 11th edition of the International Create Challenge that took place from August 16th to August 24th. This 9-Day AI Super Hackathon organized and hosted by Idiap aims to have teams that transform their idea into a prototype. This year the competition gave a special twist with two teams that took challenges proposed by BCVs.

The winners from LaternaMagica proposed an interactive beamer that can project on different surfaces in an indoor environment. The interaction capability is achieved by using different existing AI techniques such as natural gestures and gaze tracking. The proposed device is conceived with a motorized mirror coupled with a beamer/projector and a camera. They succeeded in presenting a prototype during their final pitch, which convinced the jury to award them with the 1st prize. Among the other participating teams, LightAI4Comfort developed an AI-driven lighting control system adaptable to different office spaces, MHTI provided the general public with a prediction model of possible mental health disorders. Another team participating, BISS, proposed a simple interface to help employers find important information on a company’s Intranet and internal services using a semantic search tool.

Special challenges about Human Ressources and Customer Sevices

For this 2022 edition, the ICC has partnered with the Banque Cantonale du Valais to bring challenges related to artificial intelligence. Two teams took up challenges proposed by the company. The team that took part and won the first prize is Transact. They worked on targeted anticipation of customer expectations through a holistic and systemic approach to data. SolveHR also won the second prize proposed by BCVs with their project aiming to match job descriptions and selection criteria to people's CVs thanks to a flexible AI-based model.
