Language & Information Technologies

The Language and Information Technologies group develops language-driven methods for understanding, describing, retrieving, and interacting with media and information, enabling user-centered and personalized access in multilingual, multimodal, and culturally rich settings.

The group explores how natural language processing and information technologies support media understanding, description, retrieval, and interaction in complex real-world contexts.

Its research spans both foundational and applied topics, including information extraction and retrieval, language models, and conversational recommender systems, with a strong emphasis on multilinguality, multimodality, and contextualization. A central interest of the group is how language technologies can incorporate cultural context, user modeling, and diverse forms of expression across media and domains.

Grounded in real-world settings, the group works to connect academic research to industry applications.
