Making speech technology accessible to Swiss people

Recapp is an application that allows to easily recap in-person conversations through a cloud-based service that transforms everyday experiences, by enabling review and sharing of conversations. Recapp leverages speech and language technologies to produce an interactive document that is searchable by speaker and topic. It is an easy-to-use and effective tool for anyone who wants to get more information out of a conversation. The service of recapp is build upon four different components. (1) Recapp will develop a mobile app to record conversations anywhere. (2) When the recording is stopped, the audio data is automatically uploaded to the secure cloud infrastructure. (3) Speech technology automatically processes the recording and analyses who spoke when and what was said. (4) The searchable audio data is then visualised with an innovative, intuitive and user-friendly user interface that allows the user to search for a certain speaker or topic. Finally, a novel, visual graph-based search that links similar conversations allows to browse archived recordings. The underlying technology is licensed from the Idiap Research Institute in Martigny. An initial market research revealed that bodies that are governed by public law are the most promising initial target market.
