Internship position in domain of automatic speech recognition

The position will be aligned with an European project on automatic speech recognition of air-traffic communication through SESAR Joint Undertaking exploratory research

More specifically, the planned work will comprise:

  • working in collaboration with other researchers from speech and audio processing group on development and evaluation of automatic speech recognition engines for air-traffic communication applications
  • working with other project partners (from other EU countries) on this task

 The foreseen programming platforms used in the project are Kaldi, or Pytorch

The candidate:

The ideal candidate should follow a M.Sc. program or hold a M.Sc. degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related fields. She or he should have a background at least in one of the following fields: statistics, applied mathematics, linear algebra, signal processing.

The applicant should also have strong programming skills and be familiar with Python, C/C++ (MATLAB is not a plus), some of the scripting languages and with the Linux environment.

Knowledge in speech processing and machine learning is an asset. Shortlisted candidate may undergo a test including technical reading and writing in English and programming (in Python and/or C/C++).

 The position:

Ideal length of the position is for 6 months (can be discussed). Starting date is early summer 2020.

In case of good performance, the internship application can be turned into PhD position at Idiap.
