The Idiap Create Challenge returns for its 15th edition!

Idiap’s highly anticipated 9-day AI hackathon comes back from August 20 to 28, 2026.

This summer, the Idiap Create Challenge (ICC), Idiap’s flagship hackathon, returns for its 15th edition. Designed for people passionate about artificial intelligence (AI), the ICC offers a unique opportunity to turn innovative ideas into working prototypes in a collaborative and inspiring environment nestled in the Swiss Alps.

This year, the challenge focuses on the creative and cultural industries. Participants are invited to submit project ideas across nine domains: performing arts and live entertainment, radio and the music industry, fashion, books and publishing, television and film, the press and news media, architecture and urban planning, the art market, and cultural heritage.

Participants may include established teams with an existing startup project that has not yet joined an incubator, newly formed teams, individuals with a bold idea seeking to join a team, as well as anyone willing to share their expertise and contribute to a team without having a specific project idea.

Throughout the challenge, participants will benefit from sessions on key topics such as AI and legal considerations, crafting a compelling pitch, and more. The program also includes talks from experts, networking opportunities, and informal social events.

More than just a technical competition, the ICC is a platform for turning ideas into viable projects—and potentially, startups. The prize amount up to 10,000 CHF, sponsored by IdeArk, as well as a 500 CHF People’s Choice Award. The winning team will also have the opportunity to participate in the Venture Technology Connect event on November 3rd, 2026, in Verbier.

This initiative is organized in partnership with The Ark Foundation, which helps foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the Valais region.
