Idiap Awards

Every year the Idiap Research Institute grants two awards to its students: the Idiap Paper Award and the Idiap Research Award. These awards are seen as equally valuable.

The awards are based upon the following procedures.

Idiap PhD Student Research Award
  • The Award is based on 5 criteria: publications, collaboration, project involvement, communication skills, and autonomy.
  • Seniors nominate 3 students, in ranked order, on the basis of the above criteria.
  • The award will be presented to the student with the highest score.

Idiap PhD Student Paper Award
  • Seniors browse all papers published in the previous 12 months whose first author is an Idiap student.
  • Seniors meet in order to nominate a short-list of up to 6 papers.
  • The nominated papers are sent for blind review to 3 external reviewers in the field.
  • The papers are ranked on the scores of the external reviewers.
  • The award will be presented to all student authors of the paper with the highest rank.
