The Robot Vision Task @ ImageCLEF: Towards Web-Robotics

The goal of this proposal is build the resources for shifting the focus of the ImageCLEF Robot Vision Task from semantic robot localization to Web robotics. We will build on the Semantic Robot Vision Challenge experience, discontinued since 2009, and define new data collection, baselines and measure of success by taking into account the latest advances in robot vision, visual categorization, multi modal Web data mining and machine learning. By linking the upcoming and future edition of the Robot Vision Task at Image CLEF to this new ambitious research goal, we will leverage on the results achieved over the last four years in terms of community building and know-how in the actual organization of the competition.
