Trip planning
Advices and links for planning the trip to Oulu (Finland) from Timo Ahonen
Most likely the easiest way to travel to Oulu is by flight via Helsinki.
Finnair ( http://www.finnair.com/ ) and Blue1 ( http://www.blue1.com/ )
fly regularly from Helsinki to Oulu. From the airport to city center you
can take bus number 19 (30 min, about 5 euros) or taxi for about 20-30
euros.
The actual meeting will be held at the University of Oulu, which is
about 5 km north of Oulu city center. There are no hotels at the
university area but plenty of them in the city center and buses (15 min,
abt 3 €) run regularly between university and city. Taxi costs between
15 and 20 euros. See also http://www.ee.oulu.fi/mvg/page/location
You can find a map showing a couple of hotels and the university at

The university has a fixed price for three of hotels shown on the map as
follows:
Cumulus: Single room 90 euros / night, Double room 115 euros
Scandic: Single room 94 euros, Double room 114 euros
Arina: Single room 92 euros, Double room 112 euros
If you want to book a room for these prices, let me know in good time
and I'll do the booking for you.
