Daniel Florian Alvarez, Research Assistant

Daniel is currently a master's student in the field of environmental engineering at EPFL. Before that, he obtained a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Geneva. Involved in issues related to climate change and passionate about trekking, he works for 2000Lakes as a research assistant.

Dr. Anna Carratalà, Principal Investigator

Research Scientist
Anna is a research scientist in the Environmental Chemistry Laboratory at EPFL. Her work is focused on unraveling the mechanisms influencing the distribution and functionality of microbial communities across space and time, and their response to climate change. She also investigates the metabolic richness of environmental microorganisms for the development of novel biotechnological applications and materials.

Prof. Jasmine Berg, Co-Principal Investigator

Jasmine Berg is a biogeochemist applying interdisciplinary approaches (with methods borrowed from biology, geology and chemistry) to solve complex environmental questions related to biogeochemical cycles. She is currently Assistant Professor in the Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics at the University of Lausanne and head of the Laboratoire du Mineral Vivant. Prof. Daniel Gatica-Perez

Prof. Daniel Gatica-Perez, Co-Principal Investigator

Daniel directs the Social Computing Group at Idiap and is a professor at EPFL with the School of Engineering and the College of Humanities. He studies how people and technology interface in everyday life.
His current research integrates mobile crowdsensing, social media, and citizen science to support cities, public health, and the environment.

Yuanhui Lin, Research Assistant

Yuanhui is currently a master's student in the digital humanities section at EPFL. Her main interests are data visualization and software implementation. She works for 2000Lakes as a research assistant with a task of building an interactive platform that can invite people to take part in the research.
