Angel Martínez-González

Biography

I am a PhD student in the Doctoral School of Electrical Engineering at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland and a research assistant in the Perception Group at Idiap Research Institute under the supervision of Dr. Jean-Marc Odobez.

I currently work in deep neural networks based efficient Human Pose Estimation, exploring different aspects of the human kinematics to improve 2d and 3d estimations. My research is funded by the Mexican Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT) and the European Union H2020 MuMMER project.

I obtained a MSc. degree in Computer Science at the Matematical Research Center (CIMAT) in Guanajuato, México. During my MSc. I did a research internship at the Laboratoire d’Analyse et d’Architecture des Systèmes (LAAS-CNRS) in Toulouse, France, where I worked with machine learning techniques for camera network topology discovery.

After finishing my MSc. degree I worked for Intel Corporation GDC-México as a Software Engineer in the Android team developing, maintaining and troubleshooting the camera stack of Intel mobile devices; and for CIMAT as a research engineer working in various projects that involve machine learning, computer vision and computer graphics.
