The Idiap Research Institute is an internationally renowned independent research institute. Since its inception in 1991 it has been affiliated with EPFL and University of Geneva, and has been funded by the Federal Government, the State of Valais and the City of Martigny.
The Idiap Research Institute is opening a few additional senior research positions to complement its research teams (Idiap research fields) around Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and digital signal processing. Through this call, Idiap is seeking to strengthen our core competencies, while also diversifying our application areas.
All applicants must have a PhD degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or applied mathematics. They should also demonstrate excellent research experience in their field, strong publication record (comparing well with peers with same seniority level), and ability to do creative and significant research with relative level of autonomy. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong background in statistics, linear algebra, signal processing, C/C++ programming, Perl and/or Python scripting languages, and Linux environment.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate independence in research and provide evidences that they have developed their own body of high-quality work, funded through successful research grants. The application should emphasize specific contributions the candidate has made that have a significant effect on his/her reputation.
The successful candidate is expected to initiate independent, creative research programs at the Idiap Research Institute. As part of our affiliation and collaboration with EPFL, University of Geneva and UniDistance (AI Master), duties could also include the participation in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Given the links between Idiap and our academic partners, academic careers can also be considered for exceptional candidates.

It is within close proximity to Lausanne and Geneva. Although Idiap is located in the French part of Switzerland, English is the official working language.
