The Idiap Research Institute is opening several senior researcher positions to lead groups which complement its existing research (Idiap research fields) around artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital signal processing. Through this call, Idiap seeks to strengthen its core competencies, while diversifying its application areas.
Idiap is an internationally renowned independent research institute. Since its inception in 1991 it has been affiliated with EPFL and University of Geneva, and has been funded by the Federal Government, the State of Valais, and the City of Martigny.
Successful candidates should demonstrate excellence and autonomy in research, and provide evidence of creative and significant work in their field, funded through external research grants and resulting in a strong publication record. All applicants must have a PhD degree, and strong competences in computer science or related fields. The successful candidates will be expected to initiate and lead independent research programs, with the equivalent level of responsibility of an independent group leader (in the European academic system) or a research professor (in the US academic system). As part of Idiap’s affiliation with EPFL, University of Geneva and UniDistance, duties could also include the participation in undergraduate and graduate teaching in those Institutions.

It is within close proximity to Lausanne and Geneva. Although Idiap is located in the French part of Switzerland, English is the official working language.
