The Computational Bioimaging Group ( at Idiap ( has an open position for a Postdoctoral fellow in image analysis and machine learning for electron microscopy to work on developing efficient filament detection and characterization algorithms for electron microscopy (EM) images. The project will be carried out at Idiap, in collaboration with an imaging start-up company that provides ample access to high quality image data.

The ideal candidate for the position should hold a PhD degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics and have:

* an established research record in the areas of image processing, computer vision, or machine learning (as evidenced by publications)
* the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences, both in writing and orally
* the ability to work fairly independently
* excellent programming skills (a must) and strong experience with PyTorch (a plus)

The position is to be filled immediately and is funded for six months, with possibility of being renewed based on available funding.
