New opening for an internship position on "Applied Signal Processing for Speech Perception"

Are you looking for a summer job in signal processing? Are you interested in how we hear and understand speech?

The Speech and Audio Processing Group at Idiap Research Institute is looking for a Student Intern in Audio Signal Processing (1.5 months, end of July to beginning of September timeframe).

We are investigating how difficult it is to understand speech in degraded acoustic conditions. Examples include strong background noises, or distortions from different types of telecommunication systems.
Using signal processing algorithms, we analyze various properties of speech signals, and verify how these properties change when the signal is degraded. Our goal is to find which signal properties are good indicators of human speech perception.
This work is relevant to applications such as screen readers, telecommunication systems and hearing aids.
