Olivier Canévet

Biography

I am a software developer at the Idiap Research Institute.

I was previoulsly a PhD student at the Idiap Research Institute (affiliated with the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) under the supervision of Dr. François Fleuret. My research is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

I graduated from the French Graduate Engineering School TELECOM Bretagne (Brest) in 2012 where I studied computer science and signal processing. I hold a Master in image processing from Université de Rennes1 and TELECOM Bretagne.

After a six-month internship at the French Space Agency (CNES) where I developed a supervised method for segmentation of very high resolution satellite images, I joined CERN as a technical student and worked on a ranking method for Invenio, the software developed by CERN to run and manage an online digital library (CDS).

I also spent one year on Amsterdam Island (Indian Ocean) where I was in charge of the seismological and geomagnetic observatories of École et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre de Strasbourg (EOST) affiliated with the French Polar Institut (IPEV).
