Doctoral student position in social interaction analysis from sensor data
I am looking for a highly motivated candidate for a doctoral student position in social behavior modeling from audio-visual data. The position is available immediately. The research will be conducted in the context of a new interdisciplinary project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (involving two partners in Switzerland and one in the US). The position offers the opportunity to do exciting research on computational method for real-life human behavior analysis with top partners in ubiquitous computing and social psychology. The ideal Ph.D student, who will be enrolled at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), will have a master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering with a strong mathematical background. Previous experience with machine learning, computer vision, or audio processing is required. Strong programming skills are expected. The position is for four years. Idiap is located in Martigny in Valais, a scenic region in the south of Switzerland surrounded by the highest mountains of Europe, which offers multiple recreational activities, including hiking, climbing, and skiing, as well as varied cultural activities, all within close proximity to Lausanne and Geneva.
