The Idiap Research Institute is always open to spontaneous/speculative applications for postdoc positions in one of the Idiap research fields, or in other areas that could directly benefit (or help us to diversify) from our core competencies.
In this case, and in addition to the usual CV, we strongly encourage applicants to clearly identify how they could contribute to our activities. Applications providing a clear research plan (one page maximum) are also very much encouraged and will be given full attention.
Postdoc appointments are typically for one year, with possibilities of renewal for a maximum of 4 years, conditional to performance. A postdoc first year annual gross salary starts at 80’000.- CHF (1€ ~ 1.2 CHF).
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or applied mathematics. They should also demonstrate excellent research experience in their field, strong publication record (comparing well with peers with same seniority level), and ability to do creative and significant research with relative level of autonomy. Applicants should also demonstrate a strong background in statistics, linear algebra, signal processing, C/C++ programming, Perl and/or Python scripting languages, and Linux environment.

It is within close proximity to Lausanne and Geneva. Although Idiap is located in the French part of Switzerland, English is the official working language. Free French lessons are also provided on a complimentary basis.
