dev/audio is a startup founded by a former research scientist at Idiap. It has developed an intelligent microphone for group conversations. From a single table-top unit, the product automatically produces a separated high-quality audio track for each conversation participant, together with timing and location information that indicates where and when each person is speaking. The project goal is to reduce the current product (mic unit -- sound card -- laptop) to a more portable solution, that is to develop a USB output for the mics for direct input into the laptop. Combined efforts from Idiap and the HESSO are included in this project.
