Improving the Coherence of Machine Translation Output by Modeling Intersentential Relations

Welcome to the COMTIS web site!                                                                                            SNSF logo

COMTIS was a collaborative project in machine translation, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation under the Sinergia program, grant number CRSI22_127510.  COMTIS involved partners from the Idiap Research Institute, the Department of Linguistics of the University of Geneva, and the Centre Universitaire d'Informatique of the University of Geneva.  COMTIS started on March 1st, 2010, and finished on July 31st, 2013.

The methodology put forward in COMTIS is applied to a new set of problems, related to the machine translation of discourse entities and relations, within the SNSF Sinergia MODERN project (2013-2016).  Two new partners have joined the consortium: the Institute of Computational Linguistics at the University of Zurich, and the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics at the University of Utrecht.
