New opening for a PhD position on "Computer vision and Machine Learning"

The Idiap Research Institute, affiliated with École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, seeks one PhD student to develop original techniques for object tracking in videos.

The candidate will be a doctoral student at EPFL, working under the supervision of Dr. François Fleuret in the Computer Vision and Learning group at Idiap. Starting date is immediately.

Reliable tracking of objects in video streams is a critical feature in many real-world applications of computer vision. This PhD position will focus on improving state-of-the-art methods to allow fine-tuning on large data sets. A strong emphasis will be on demonstrating experimentally the efficiency of the developed algorithms on real-world data.

Applicants must be self-sufficient programmers and have a strong background in mathematics. They should be interested in, and familiar with, applied probabilities, information theory, signal processing, optimization, algorithmic, and C++ programming.
