Idiap has a new opening for 2 Postdoc positions available in deep learning and computer vision for gaze and interaction analysis

The Perception and Activity Understanding group seeks qualified candidates in computer vision and machine learning for interaction analysis.

Position 1: Within the context of the project REGENN, the main goal is to apply deep learning and machine learning techniques (eg adaptation) for gaze estimation in the 3D space (see project http://www.idiap.ch/project/g3e/). The project involves the tech company Eyeware. The candidate is expected to research and publish the developed methods.

The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availabilities, esp. in the context of the MuMMER European project.

Position 2: Within the context of the MuMMER European project, the goal is to design deep learning algorithms like 3D pose estimation and interaction analysis in HRI applications, using both RGB and Depth video streams.

The ideal postdoctoral candidates will have a PhD in computer vision and/or machine learning. They should have a good background in applied mathematics and statistics. As software deliverables are planned (in collaboration with an Idiap research engineer) excellent programming skills in C/C++ and Python are expected. Hands-on experience with deep learning techniques are a plus.

The starting date is as soon as possible for position 1, and up to fall 2017 for position 2.
