Idiap has a new opening for an internship position in wrist vein biometrics
The Idiap Research Institute invites applications for one internship position in biometrics. The position is funded by a new 18-month research project on wrist vein sensing and recognition. The work will be carried out together with a Swiss consortium of one high-profile research institute and one company.
The work will consists in
* collecting a wrist-vein dataset using a new developed sensor for research, development and testing on the BEAT platform,
* develop wrist-vein recognition algorithms.
The ideal candidate should follow a M.Sc. program or hold a M.Sc. degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related fields. She or he should have a background in statistics or applied mathematics, optimization, linear algebra and signal processing. The applicant should also have strong programming skills and be familiar with Python, C/C++ (MATLAB is not a plus), various scripting languages and with the Linux environment. Knowledge in image processing and machine learning is an asset. Shortlisted candidate may undergo a series of tests including technical reading and writing in English and programming (in Python and/or C/C++).
Appointment for the position is for 6 month. Salary is 2'000 CHF per month. Starting date is summer 2016.
